“We’re so grateful to the partners, funders, friends and cheerleaders who have enabled us to build Resolve into what it is today and who continue to support our work. This is just the beginning of a new chapter, and there’s much more to come from Modifier that we can’t wait to share with you.”

RESOLVE PHILLY LAUNCHES MODIFIER, A NEW PRACTICE CHANGE AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ENTERPRISE

PHILADELPHIA, PA: Resolve Philly is proud to announce the launch of Modifier, the new home for the organization’s practice change and professional development work.

Through this new enterprise, the Resolve team will now offer training, consulting, and educational resources on language and framing, leadership support, community engagement and more. Modifier’s solutions are built for organizations of all sizes and individuals seeking to learn a range of skills. Learn more at www.modifier.resolvephilly.org and follow us on Twitter @ModifierNews.

Resolve Philly is a proving ground for news and information initiatives that challenge the field of journalism to be more equitable, collaborative, and based in community voices and solutions. In 2019, Resolve began consulting informally with newsrooms on our programmatic work and organizational approach to equity and inclusion. As demand for the organization’s expertise increased, we have formalized this consulting practice in order to transform the journalism industry by sharing Resolve’s institutional knowledge and learnings. Moving forward, Modifier is where newsroom decision-makers and leaders of analogous organizations can come for personalized instruction and consulting and where individual journalists and writers can find advice, guidance, and resources.

Modifier absorbs the preceding work of Reframe, Resolve’s initiative to help journalists use more humanizing language and equitable frames in their reporting. Modifier is led by former Reframe editor Aubrey Nagle, Resolve’s Director of Practice Change.

“We’re so grateful to the partners, funders, friends and cheerleaders who have enabled us to build Resolve into what it is today and who continue to support our work. This is just the beginning of a new chapter, and there’s much more to come from Modifier that we can’t wait to share with you, ” Nagle said.

About Resolve Philly: Resolve Philly grew out of a collaborative reporting initiative, The Reentry Project. In 2017, 13 Philadelphia newsroom partners produced approximately 200 stories focused on reentry from prison, bringing attention to a previously marginalized topic. Broke in Philly, the organization's current collaboration with 20+ newsrooms reporting on solutions to poverty and economic mobility, was followed by the more recent initiatives Equally Informed Philly and Shake the Table. Led by co-executive directors Jean Friedman-Rudovsky and Cassie Haynes, the Resolve team has grown exponentially within just a few years.
